YouTube takes the concerns of its community seriously, which is why they’ve introduced three key updates to combat identity abuse-related spam. Starting July 29th, channels will no longer have the option to conceal their subscriber counts, a move aimed at thwarting imposters from mimicking popular channels to mislead viewers.
To further secure the platform, YouTube has bolstered comment moderation in Studio. Creators can now utilize a new setting under the ‘Held for review’ tab that adds an extra layer of strictness to keep spam and abusive comments at bay. This feature is optional but highly recommended for maintaining a safe and authentic interaction space.
Moreover, to prevent impersonation, YouTube has introduced restrictions on the use of special character sets in channel names. This ensures a straightforward mechanism to identify legitimate channels and protect the integrity of the creator community.

If you’ve been yearning for more recognition from content creators, YouTube has heard you! Channels with eight or more members can now highlight these supporters with a dedicated shelf at the top of their channel pages. And for a personalized touch, adjust the placement of this feature via the Customization tab in YouTube Studio to best reflect your channel’s style.

For those eager to keep a pulse on your channel’s performance or dive deep into Shorts analytics via your mobile device, YouTube has you covered. Simply visit Your Videos under the Library section, filter for Shorts if needed, or head directly to the Analytics section by tapping the Analytics button after clicking on your profile icon. Access comprehensive metrics and performance insights anytime, anywhere, without the need for a desktop.
